Showdown in Kumasi: GHABSU set to invade Garden City in support of Osibor Boxing Promotions

Nana Sam Kweku Gyan, President of the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GHABSU) has informed that GHABSU will storm the Garden City of Kumasi to support Osibor Boxing Promotions at the SG Mall on July 5, 2024.

According to Nana Gyan who is a Master Percussionist, boxing entertainment must spread all over Ghana.

He called on the people of Kumasi to come out to and watch the bouts.

“Boxing is full of fun and entertainment, the people of Accra know that is why they love it, I know that the Ashanti people also love boxing,” he said in an interview 

He noted that before Kumasi they will be present for the next promotion by Ayitey Powers at the Bukom Boxing Arena on June 29.

“We want all boxing fans to be at the Arena so that we celebrate our sporting heroes. Boxing is sports entertainment so come and enjoy” he stated.

The GHABSU President was sad that the Black Bombers missed out of the 2024 Olympic Games after three qualifying tournaments in Dakar, Italy and Thailand.

“We are sad that the Black Bombers are out of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. We call for more pragmatic ideas and solutions as well as invest in Ghana Amateur Boxing” he expressed.

Secretary of GHABSU, Nii Nettey Mustapha Nettey who is also a ring announcer / score master with the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) and Treasurer of the Ghana Boxing Federation GBF) supported the President.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gordon Frimpong, CEO of Osibor Promotions has revealed, two title would be at stake on July 5, the UBO African featherweight title between Stanley Nyantakyi AKA Ashanti Warrior and Isaac Nettey as well as the UBO international championship between John Zile and Emmanuel Quartey AKA Akuffo Addo.

Other exciting bouts will feature Daniel Gorsh, Jacob Dickson, Emmanuel Quartey and Nigerian boxers based in Ghana.
