“We believe in young players”- Cremonese Sporting Director on the signing Afena-Gyan

US Crenonese Sporting Director, Simone Giacchetta, has explained the club’s reason for signing Ghana forward Felix Afena-Gyan.

The 19-year-old joined the Serie A newcomers on a permanent deal from Italian giants AS Roma on Monday, August 29, 2022.

According to Simone Giacchetta, the club believes in young talents like Afena-Gyan, hence the decision to sign him from Roma.

“We are talking about a 2003, therefore a capital investment but also for the championship. The club has invested a significant amount because it believes in young people, believes in this category and will try to stay there,” he said.

Felix Afena-Gyan is expected to make his US Cremonese debut when they face Sassuolo in their next Serie A game.

The Black Stars forward has seen a meteoric rise to his career since leaving Ghana for Italy in 2021.

He scored two goals in 17 games for AS Roma, and was also a member of the team that won the inaugural edition of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
