Newly elected President of the Africa Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen arrived to a grand welcome today at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra following his victory in elections held in Rabat, Morocco few days ago.
Accompanied by Deputy Sports Minister, Hon. Evans Opoku Bobie who was with him in the North African country for the eventual successful bid, leading government and National Sports Authority officials as well as his fans were at the airport to welcome Mr. Deen back home as he made his triumphant entry.
The Ghanaian Paralympic chief polled 24 of the total votes cast by 41 delegates (38 in-person and 3 voting online) comprising of Presidents and General Secretaries of National Paralympics committees on the continent, beating Morocco’s Hamid El Aouni who polled 15 votes. Mr Deen replaces the outgoing APC boss Leonel da Rocha Pinto who has been in charge for 13 years.
