Lawrence Ati-Zigi has signed a new two-year contract with St Gallen that will keep him at the Swiss club until 2025.
The Ghanaian goalkeeper joined St Gallen from Sochaux in 2020 on a three-year deal that was set to expire in 2023.
He has, however, signed a new contract as a reward from the club for his outstanding performances in the Swiss Super League this season.
“FC St.Gallen 1879 can plan with Lawrence Ati Zigi beyond the end of the season,” the club announced.
“The club has prematurely extended the contract with its goalkeeper, which was valid until June 2023, by two years until the end of the 2024/25 season.”
“The FCSG is thus able to keep one of its top performers with the club.”
In six league appearances this season, the 25-year-old has kept two clean sheets.
Ati-Zigi has, however, been left out of Ghana’s squad for this month’s pre-2022 World Cup friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua.
With the decision by Black Stars coach Otto Addo, his chances of going to Qatar are now slim.
