Belgian side Eupen announce capture of Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso

Belgium topflight side KAS Eupen have announced the signing of Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso.

The Black Stars midfielder  joins KAS Eupen on a season-long loan from Shenzen FC.

The 32-year-old joins compatriots Isaac Nunu and Manaf Nurudeen at the Belgian club.

“Welcome Mubarak Wakaso. The 70-time Ghanaian international Mubarak Wakaso will play for KAS Eupen until the end of this season. The 32-years-old midfielder is on loan from Chinese first division club Shenzen FC,” wrote KAS on Twitter.

Mubarak Wakaso spent the last three years of his career in China, where he played for the defunct Jiangsu Suning, helping them win the 2020 Chinese Super League. The club folded in 2021.

He also played for Shenzen FC in the Chinese Super League.

Wakaso, who was a member of the Black Stars team at the Nations Cup in Cameroon early this year, has been inactive since February.

The former Villareal player has been training individually but was in Qatar for the past three weeks practising with Al Sadd.

With the World Cup 79 days away, his return to active football will entice Ghana coach Otto Addo, who believes in the experience of the midfielder.

Mubarak Wakaso spent most of his career in Spain where he played for Villareal, Elche, Las Palmas, Espanyol and Deportivo Alaves.
