Willilo elected new President of Tanzania amateur boxing

Anderson Lukelo Willilo (pictured on the right with Evander Holyfield) was today elected new President of Boxing Federation of Tanzania , defeating Samuel Christopher Sumwa by 19-3 votes at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Willilo, who was TBF’s secretary general, was in cloud nine after his resounding
victory.

“I’m very happy and excited, I thank all the delegates for showing confidence in me,” said a jovial Willilo who’s also a board member of Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC).

Nassoro Abbas Makau, Makore Mashaga and Rwegasira Samson were elected vice-president, secretary-general and treasurer respectively on a walkover. Asha George was elected to head women and youth committee.

Mashaga makes a comeback to BFT having previously served in the same position. He joined the national office in 1997-1998 as acting SG under the leadership of the late Narcius Tarimo, and was then elected in 2010-2013 and retained his position for the 2014-2017 term in office.
