Ryan Garcia reacts to Canelo picking Gervonta Davis to win

Ryan Garcia surprisingly reacted positively today when told that his former gym mate Canelo Alvarez has picked Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis to defeat him on April 22nd.

Instead of lashing out by firing back at how poor Canelo has looked lately, Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) acknowledged that he has a lot to prove in this fight against Tank (28-0, 26 KOs) in eleven days from now on Showtime pay-per-view at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

If Ryan can win this fight, he’ll get the last laugh with Canelo to show him that he was wrong.

Ryan and Tank are in the same boat as having weak resumes. However, Tank’s ring record is slightly better, but not by much. That’s why it’s difficult to say who will win this fight.

Both fighters have looked terribly flawed, particularly Tank with how he’s struggled against Rolando Romero, Isaac Cruz, Leo Santa Cruz, and Mario Barrios.

“Like I said, I have a lot to prove coming into that ring,” said Ryan Garcia to the media when told that Canelo Alvarez is picking Gervonta Davis to defeat him on April 22nd.

“I know where I’m at. I just let everybody speak, and everybody do their thing.

“It’s all part of the show. I just pay attention to me. I know exactly where I’m at right now, and I’m going to shock the world on April 22nd. It’s going to be a great moment for me.

“None of my thoughts are going to change anything worrying about April 22nd. I’m going to miss what I have to do today. Every day presents its own challenges. So if I can focus on that and conquer each moment, each challenge of the day, and come April 22nd, it’s going to be that much easier to take on whatever comes in.

“So that’s my philosophy on how to stay at peace and how to stay better prepared for anything. There’s a lot of times where we waste our thoughts on things that we can’t control in the future and things we can no longer change in the past. So ultimately, it doesn’t matter.

“So, I just practice staying in the moment and understanding what I’m doing. If I’m projecting a certain thing or I’m not projecting. I’m just really paying attention to myself at every moment so I can become a master of myself every day, every moment, and don’t let up because that’s what we’re going to do in life. What else do we have to do?
