MTN support Hearts-Oly Ga Homowo Charity Cup

Telecommunication giants, MTN have extended their sponsorship of sports to the upcoming 2023 Gbese Mantse Homowo Charity Cup between city rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics this Sunday, August 20 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

MTN, sponsors of the national senior team, Black Stars as well as the MTN FA Cup and the famous MTN Invitational golf tournament which travels across Ghana, also recently only successfully staged the 2023 MTN Ashantifest Community Soccer competition which featured an unprecedented 16 teams and spanned two months.

The latest to gain their attention is the age-old clash between the two biggest clubs in the Ghana capital which also serves as part of the celebrations of the annual Homowo festival of the people of Accra.

Organised by Gold Star Consult under the distinguished patronage of the Gbese Manste, His Royal Majesty, Nii Dr. Ayi Bonte II, a former Chairman of Hearts, known in private life as Tommy Okine, the match is also sanctioned by the Ghana Football Association.

“I’m excited about the game to honour the Gbese chief who is a football colossus who has gone through the ranks regarding football administration and won a lot of accolades with Hearts of Oak,” GFA President, Kurt Okraku hailed at the official launch in Accra.

“He also worked with Accra Great Olympics to help shape the club; it is for this reason such a game is perfect to celebrate a football administrator par excellence,” Mr. Okraku noted.

Aside MTN, other partners of the 2023 Ga Homowo Charity Cup are the GFA and Max TV who will screen the game live.
