The Great Phobian Convocation 2024: Hearts of Oak family visit former boss Ato Ahwoi

Key personalities of the old Board, Management, ex- NCC members & friends alike on Thursday, 4th January 2024 paid a special visit to the venerable Uncle Ato Ahwoi (Board Chairman, 1995 to 2005) at his plush West Legon residence off Gimpa – Hatso road in Accra, and solidarize with him after his recent sickness and discharge from hospital.

Led by the club’s most successful Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) with regards to continental conquests, Messrs Harry Zakour also known as The Millennium Chairman as well as Nii Ayi Bonte II, known in private life as Thomas Okine.

Also, among the entourage included Commodore Martey Mensah ( a former Board Chairman), Nana Abra Appiah (former PLB Chairman of the GFA), the great Ashford Tettey-Oku (the club’s longest serving Administrative Officer, General Manager, a former PLB Chairman, after deputising for Nana Abra Appiah for many years & now a FIFA licensed International Consultant), TV Musah (a former Director), Alhaji HMM Sannie (former NCC National Organizer & Director), Ernest Quashie (a former Management Member), Maxwell Addo (a former Management Member in charge of Finance).

Others present were former National Chapters Committee (NCC) capos like Neil Armstrong Mortagbe (a former MD and NCC Chairman), Maxwell Nana Yaw Asabere (a former NCC General-Secretary) and Mohammed Alhassan (a former Deputy NCC nationl Organiser).

A number of Hearts ladies were there too, led by Vicentia Deku and Gifty Joan Addy.

A former management member and now a chief priest of Nungua Paramount stool of the Ga State, Stephen Akwetey was represented by Mr Benjamin Alabi.

The old players had former captains, Jacob Nettey (the CAF Super Cup & Champions League) and Yaw Amankwah Mireku (CAF Confederation Cup) winners respectively.

The Ato Ahwoi led Board of Accra Hearts of Oak PLC is the most successful in the history of Ghana football and the club since it’s formation in 1911 to 2024 with regards to achievements on the field of play, infrastructure and property acquisition (CAF Super Cup, Champions League & Confederation Cups, 6 GPL & 4 FA Cup winners) in his 10 years stewardship of the club.

He paid for and fenced the Pobiman project as well as the club’s Secretariat at Asylum Down in Accra.
