Ghanaian clubs can be professional – Ashford Oku

ash1Mr Ashford Tettey Oku Vice President of the Premier League Board (PLB)  has urged all club administrators to adhere to the requirements of the club licensing system saying it will lead to professionalism in the game.

“This idea of professionalism is about solid football coaches, top level administration, controlled ownership, transparent financial reporting and virile youth policy”, he said.
The former Accra Hearts of Oak Administrative Manager said the key area was youth development programs by way of structured and carefully designed system to help unearth more football talents in the country.
According to him club licensing was a reform to support and improve management systems of clubs as well as a tool to help the clubs focus more on commercial attractiveness and financial advantage.
ash2Mr Oku was one of the resource persons who spoke at a two-day marketing and club licensing seminar organized by the Ghana Football Association last Tuesday to train officials of Premier and Division One League clubs about new measures meant to inject more professionalism in the administration of clubs in Ghana.
He also charged clubs that formerly had youth programs such as Kotoko’s Anokye, Hearts Auroras, Marlevands Hasmal and Olympics Dade to revive them.

He noted that it is far cheaper to have your own youth side than adopting a colts club.
