Crystal Palace striker Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor has donated two brand new sets of jerseys to his neighbourhood team ‘Totsi” for their kind gesture towards him during his long absence from competitive football.
The Former Togolese (Hawks) captain mutually terminated his contract with Premiership side, Tottenham Hotspurs in September 2015 and returned to Togo to cool off the pressure.
But whilst in Togo, Emmanuel Adebayor trained with ‘Totsi,’ day in day out in other to keep fit and also shape his mental toughness until he got signed by the Eagles in the just ended January transfer window.
“When I was out there without club, the TeamSEA (Aka Totsi Team) always welcomed me in their team,” Adebayor said in a statement.
“This is a team from my neighbourhood in Togo with young talented players but also some experienced players”
“Playing with them everyday helped improve my match fitness and my mental strength. They supported me during the hard times and always prayed for me,” he noted“We didn’t always play on the best fields but we always played some high level football and kept it professional. They kept me going and I keep them going,” he said.
“This set of jersey (Home/Away) is made for each player in the team. Thanks to all the players, staff and fans of the Team SEA!,” he added.
