Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi to be benched in Swiss Cup final, St.Gallen coach confirms

Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi will not be in post for the Swiss Cup final against Lugano on May 15, St.Gallen Coach Peter Zeilder has disclosed.

The 25-year-old was impressive in the game for St.Gallen against Lugano in the Swiss League on Sunday.

The Black Stars goalkeeper  made four brilliant saves to record a clean sheet in that 3-0 win.

According to St.Gallen Coach Peter Zeidler’s, it has been agreed that Lukas Watkowiak will be in post for the Cup games whilst Lawrence Ati-Zigi keeps the post for the league games.

“Coach Peter Zeidler’s “luxury problem”: Zigi has to go to the bench in the cup final. Because on May 15, “Cup Goalie” Lukas Watkowiak will be used.

“We agreed on that before the season. And that’s not being shaken, there are no discussions, »says Zeidler after the game against Lugano.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi has made 31 appearances for St.Gallen this season.
