The Secretary-General of the Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC) Andre Basile Kalong (pictured) has affirmed the Cameroon government’s commitment to the July 25-August 6 Africa Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships in Yaounde.
“The government in conjunction with AFBC is fully committed to make this tournament a big success, and has okayed the dates, we’re very grateful for their support,” said Basile who has appealed to the countries that have yet to confirm participation not to miss the big party in Cameroon’s capital city.
Basile said so far 35 countries have confirmed to take part in the richest ever amateur boxing tournament to take place on African soil with a total of $1,000,000 in prize money at stake.
“The door is still open, we expect to attain our target of 40 countries to be with us in Yaounde, it’s going to be a memorable event,” said Basile.
