IBA appreciate France President Emmanuel Macron’s support to boxing ahead of Paris 2024

In his recent Instagram appearance, President of France Emmanuel Macron showed his support for boxing, as the French leader posted a video from the boxing gym with gloves on his shoulder for the 200 days before Paris 2024. He hoped for medal success for the national team and called for the French nation to take part in sports activities to keep the legacy of the Olympics for a long time ahead.

Boxing will be part of the Olympic Games 2024 with 248 athletes participating. So far, France has seven athletes qualified to participate in the home Games’ boxing event, including the leaders of the team Estelle Mossely and Sofiane Oumiha.

“Support to boxing from the likes of President Macron is crucial for IBA, as the more leaders involved into promoting the sport, the higher the level of boxing exposure worldwide,” IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE said.

“France is among the leaders in boxing, and I am confident in an excellent result for those French boxers at the home Olympic Games.

“We want to echo French President’s message to take part in different sports, in particular our sport of boxing, to keep active and to help develop the sport worldwide. Every punch matters.”
