‘The final will be different’ – Ghana 4X100m anchor Joseph Amoah

Captain of the Ghana Athletics team – Joseph Paul Amoah has assured that they are going to put on a good show in the men’s 4x100m relay final scheduled to come off tomorrow at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium in Japan.

Joseph Amoah anchored his colleagues [Sean Sarfo-Antwi, Benjamin Azamati-Kwaku, and Emmanuel Yeboah] to break Ghana’s all-time 4x100m relay record on Thursday.

The final line-up: Team Ghana have nothing to lose after just squeezing in, just!

Competing in heat 2, Team Ghana finished fifth [38.08] in what was probably the greatest quality 4x100m heat in history. It was a cracking race with China just winning by two thousandths of a second in 37.916 to Canada’s 37.918.

Italy and [37.95] and Germany [38.06] finished third and fourth respectfully to complete the list, but Ghana’s national record 38.08 was enough for the West African nation to secure final spot as the fastest loser ahead of Brazil’s 38.34 seconds.

Jamaica won the heat 1 comfortably in 37.82 seconds, ahead of Great Britain [38.02], Japan [38.16], and France [38.18].

Despite qualifying via the fastest loser route, Joseph Amoah believes they’ve still got what it takes to cause an upset:

“We work super hard for moments like this,” he tweeted.

“Finals gonna be different,” he adds.

Ghana [lane 2] will compete in the finals against Jamaica, Great Britain, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, China, and Canada.
