AIPS Africa partner AGL to launch ‘AIPS Africa AWARD,’ winners to be announced at AFCON 2023

The International Sports Press Association, Africa Section, is proud to announce the launch of the ‘AIPS Africa AWARD’ and winners will be announced during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Abidjan. This initiative, supported by Africa Global Logistics (AGL), marks a major milestone in the recognition of excellence within African journalism.

DEADLINE

Focused on the economic, social and societal impact in sport, and more specifically football, this competition is open to articles (print, radio, television and web) in French, English, Arabic and Portuguese, until 15 January 2024 and will be submitted to a jury composed of eminent journalists who have left an indelible mark on this noble profession within the African continent.

Please send your submissions to the following address: bestofafrique@gmail.com

PRIZES

The winners of the various “AIPS Africa PRIZES” will receive, in addition to a trophy, a sum of 1,000,000 CFA francs (1500 euros) during a cocktail ceremony scheduled for January 25, 2024 in Abidjan. At the same time, AIPS Africa will honour legends of journalism for “services rendered to sport”.

GREAT OPPORTUNITY

“This is a great opportunity for the African sports press,” said the AIPS Africa President Abdoulaye Thiam. “I believe this will encourage great sports reporting. Our stories remain vital and more importantly we are better at telling out own stories. The African sporting arena is so rich but still remains untapped.”

He added: “This award will also be used as a gateway in attracting potential partners of AIPS Africa with the desire to promote sports development and their various corporate entities. It will also breed respect into sports storytelling. These are exciting times and I am confident that more entities with similar visions will be coming forward as we also continue to solicit their partnership.”

SHARED COMMITMENT

It is important to note that the awards go far beyond the simple recognition of journalistic talent; They celebrate sport as a powerful driver of social inclusion and cohesion within communities. This successful partnership between AIPS Africa and AGL symbolizes our shared commitment to enriching the African media landscape and promoting transformative narratives.

We look forward to discovering the inspiring works of talented African journalists, and celebrating together the stories that give shape and life to our continent.
