Jay Jay Okocha appointed Nigeria’s new Sports Minister

Augustine Okocha alias Jay Jay, 46, has been appointed Minister of Sports, Youth and Development by the new President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu.

Passed by Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbahçe, Paris Saint Germain (PSG), Bolton among others, Jay Jay Okocha who has 14 goals in 73 selections between 1993 and 2006 is Olympic champion in 1996, winner of the CAN 1994, 2000.

He is also voted best player of the CAN 2004. Jay Jay Okocha was known on the ground for his disconcerting dribbles.

Okocha, the former glory of African football, benefits from the confidence of the new President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, to revive local football, develop it and inspire Nigerian youth.

While it is true that Okocha is taking his first official steps into the political arena, he is not a novice in the world of sport where he has gained many experiences over the years.

The man who is not only known in his country for his skills on the pitch, is also pampered for his charisma and his leadership.

He will therefore be able to rely on his qualities to best survey the corridors of politics and provide his country with new sports infrastructures or improve the existing ones, and encourage Nigerian youth to get involved in sport.
