The President of the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Dr Patrice Motsepe visited Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe and Morocco.

During Dr Patrice Motsepe’s visit, he met with President João Lourenço of Angola, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea, President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau and President Carlos Vila Nova of São Tomé and Príncipe.

The CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe said: “I am thankful to the Governments of Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe and Morocco for cooperating and supporting the Football Federations, professional football and other football stakeholders in their countries. I am also grateful to President João Lourenço of Angola, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea, President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau and President Carlos Vila Nova of São Tomé and Príncipe for their commitment and contribution to the development and growth of football in their countries and on the African Continent. The meetings I had with these Heads of State and their Ministers of Sports as well as the private sector and businesses in their countries fills me with optimism and confidence for the continued upliftment and global competitiveness of football in these football-loving countries. Investing in Youth Academies for Boys and Girls, football infrastructure and ensuring that every country in Africa has at least one stadium that fulfills the CAF and FIFA standards is an important objective to making African Football amongst the best in the world. I am also pleased with the good work that the Presidents and the Leadership of Football in these countries are doing. I was very happy with the world-class infrastructure and facilities for Futsal that I observed in Rabat during the opening match of the CAF TotalEnergies Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) Morocco 2024 on Thursday 11 April 2024.”

President Motsepe was accompanied by the CAF General Secretary Mr Véron Mosengo-Omba during his visit to the above countries.

The CAF President will be hosting an in-person meeting of the CAF Executive Committee (“EXCO”) in Rabat, Morocco on Friday 19 April 2024.
