Ghana Rugby Association vs Herbert Mensah court case begins

Today In Court – 1st December, 2021

Today at the Human rights court division at the premises of the Supreme Court, suit no. HR/0006/2022 between Ghana Rugby Football Union aka (Ghana Rugby Association) vs. Herbert Amponsah Mensah and Rafatu Inusah was called.

Ghana Rugby Football Union (Plaintiff) was represented by the General Secretary who is also a Director. Unfortunately, the defendants failed to show up in person and were represented by their lawyer. It was rumoured that the 1st Herbert Amponsah Mensah defendant was to attend to a call at the CID headquarters, on allegations of fraud.

It was however bizarre to find out that counsel for the defendant had filled a supplementary affidavit in opposition to the writ of summons and claim on the morning of today (1/12/2021). This tactics of delaying justice was evidently seen as counsel for the defendants had not yet presented any defence but only an application to strike out the writ and claims by the plaintiff.

The Judge consented to the fact that she had not received the said application and therefore was unable to continue the case. The judge adjourned the case to January but counsel for defendants pleaded that they have many things around their necks”. Hearing was therefore adjourned to Tuesday 14th December 2021 at 10am.
